Cervical Cancer Awareness Ribbon
and
Human Papilloma Virus / Sexually Transmitted Disease Awareness Ribbon

The Teal and White ribbon represents Cervical Cancer and the Light Green (PMS# 352c) represents both HPV Awareness / Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Awareness.

Each cause is so very important as a Women's Health Issue.  Clearly with the advent of the HPV vaccine, there is more media attention and stronger associations being made between Cervical Cancer and HPV.  This association and media attention provides an opportunity to increase awareness among women and provide valuable information to educate and empower individuals.

"Protect Your Future, Prevent STDs Today", is one of the messages provided by the STD Awareness effort.  Beyond the vaccine, it is important to provide important information on Prevention and Treatment available to protect individual's health.

Prevention:
***  Pap tests are very important.  A pap test can look for abnormal cells in the lining of the cervix before they have the opportunity to become either precancers or cervical cancer itself.
***  Sexually Active women can take the same steps that are used to prevent other STDs, such as condoms etc.
***  HPV vaccine is now FDA approved for specific strains of the HPV virus.

Treatment:
***  There is no CURE for HPV.
***  However, there are treatments available for the manifestations of HPV on the skin or cervical lining.
